Fixmo SafeZone Secure Browser and SafeGuard SDK Now Free For Government and Defense Agencies

If you have a .gov or .mil email account, you can now get Fixmo‘s SafeZone Secure Browser and SafeGuard Software Development Kit as a free download. The mobile risk management company announced today that, as part of their Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the NSA, they will be offering these solutions free of charge for government and defense agencies, adding to it’s no cost government offerings including Fixmo Sentinel Desktop for BlackBerry and Android as well as Fixmo Sentinel Server Compliance Check  for BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The Fixmo SafeZone Secure Browser is an encrypted  HTML-5 browser for tablets and smartphones that allows you to access applications, content, and documents on the web securely. It is completely contained and separate from the native browser on the device to ensure that corporate and personal data remain separate, enabling a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) approach to mobile. The SafeZone Secure Browser works on both iOS and Android devices using defense-grade FIPS 140-2 validated AES 256-bit encryption for all data stored within the browser and its local cache.

The SafeGuard Software Development Kit is a new offering from Fixmo that will help government agencies bring the same level of security to their legacy and custom applications. The SDK makes it easy to enhance iOS and Android applications with defense-grade security, policy management, and IT controls as well as to integrate their mobile applications into the Fixmo SafeZone secure workspace.  The SDK puts a secure container around mobile applications by encrypting data at rest and in transit using FIPS 140-2 validated AES 256-bit encryption, application-level policy management that prevents the application from running if  the device has been compromised, jailbroken, or rooted, and application deployment into Fixmo SafeZone. SafeZone is a secure corporate workspace for iOS and Android that provides encrypted, contained, and managed corporate email, browsing, documents and applications with a defense-grade security architecture. If you aren’t using Fixmo SafeZone, the apps can also be managed individually.

To help develop secure applications, Fixmo also announced its Certified Partner Program for Fixmo SafeZone today. These development partners are certified in using the Fixmo SafeGuard Software Development Kit to help enterprises secure their mobile apps for iOS and Android. The first member of the program is Coolfire Solutions, a leader in developing secure mobile applications for the military and intelligence community.
